Downloading and installing Whack-A-Word is a simple 3-step process...

Step 1 - Download the Whack-A-Word setup program.  The link below will download a copy of WHACKZIP.EXE, a program that contains all of the files that are required to install Whack-A-Word.  WHACKZIP.EXE is 1125 KB in size, and should take approximately 5 minutes to download using a 56k modem.

Step 2 - Run the setup program that you just downloaded in Step 1. The first thing that should appear is a dialog that looks like this:

Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to setup Whack-A-Word on your computer.  You will have an opportunity during setup to specify where you'd like to install the Whack-A-Word program and its shortcut.  You can just accept the default locations or (if you have a preference) enter your own.  When setup is finished, all the windows will go away and you'll be ready to play Whack-A-Word!

Step 3 - Run the Whack-A-Word program.  To play the game, look on your desktop for the Whack-A-Word shortcut, and double-click it.  It looks like this:

Or, if you chose not to add an icon to your desktop, open up your Start menu and look under "Programs" for the entry called "Whack-A-Word".  It has its own folder, and inside this folder you should see a list of choices like this:

Just click on the icon and you'll be playing Whack-A-Word!  Enjoy!

Uninstalling Whack-A-Word

If you ever decide to uninstall Whack-A-Word, simply go to your Windows control panel, select "Add / Remove Programs", and click on the entry for Whack-A-Word.  After a few short moments, Whack-A-Word will be removed from your computer.

Getting the Zip File

If you have your own copy of WinZip (and you know how to use it) you can download the Whack-A-Word zip file directly from this site.  It's slightly smaller (1094 KB) but contains exactly the same files as the self-extracting executable.
